The story of the movie takes place in Jaipur, Rajasthan. In an arranged marriage setting, a businessman father introduces his son—who he views as a failure—to the bride’s family. Mahender and Mahima tie the knot. With a strong desire to establish his worth, Mahender decides to transform doctor Mahima into a cricket player.

Mahender’s fixation gets so bad that he wants to be on the wall where his father keeps pictures of himself and other renowned cricket players. His relationship with his wife Mahima becomes strained as a result of this fixation. Mahima, meantime, has to deal with her own challenges; she loses her work as a doctor and must now shoulder the burden of becoming a cricket player. It remains to be seen if Mahima pursues a career in cricket and if her husband ever overcomes his fixation with celebrity.

How is the film?

The movie progresses a little slowly, even with all the artists offering outstanding performances, which occasionally makes spectators reach for their phones to browse. It was inaccurate, despite rumors to the contrary, that the film included Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Other than featuring a photo of Dhoni, there is no connection between the movie and Captain Cool. The story could have included any kind of art or activity, such as dancing or singing, but as the filmmakers are passionate about cricket, they decided to include the game. This is not a film about sports. It’s a charming film with an engaging plot, and seeing it in theaters will open your eyes to fresh perspectives.

Acting

Rajkummar Rao, Dheerendra Gautam, Kumud Mishra, Rajesh Sharma, Arjit Taneja, Janhvi Kapoor, and Zarina Wahab star in the movie. Each actor delivers impressive performances, particularly Rajkummar Rao who portrays a dejected cricket player, a failed person, and a helpless son. His character radiates a desire for glory and shares great chemistry with Janhvi Kapoor. They convincingly portray a married couple who are there for each other in both sentimental and romantic moments. Janhvi Kapoor, after her previous role in Bawaal, shines as a modest girl from a regular background who sacrifices her own dreams to support her family. She discovers her true aspirations along the way.

Direction

This movie was directed by Sharan Sharma, and he did a fantastic job. His first film was “Gunjan Saxena,” a Dharma Productions production in which Janhvi Kapoor starred as the lead. This is his second picture as a filmmaker. Dharma Productions is the production company behind the movie “Mr. and Mrs. Mahi”. Zee Studios and Karan Johar produced it.
